The importance of drinking

Water is of the uttermost importance in our life! Sixty per cent of our body is made up of it!

In order to compensate for the natural loss of liquids it is necessary to drink over one and a half litres of liquids on a daily basis: a need fulfilled both by drinking and assuming solid foods.

Water, however, also represents the most difficult element to manage when difficulties in swallowing are present. For this reason, children suffering from neurological disabilities, as well as adults or elderly people suffering from presbyphagia (presbyphagia: the medical term for the symptom of difficulty in swallowing in the elderly) , end up not drinking enough.

Using the Groovy Cup allows postural ease which, in turn, makes drinking easier.

The space created specifically for the nose allows to keep the chin flexed towards the chest. In this way, the airway tracts are protected since they do not find themselves invaded by water entering into the larynx (a part of the respiratory tract in which there must be no passage of food either liquid or solid) if the head is tilted backwards.
